RENAL DIVISION

GAMBRO/HOSPAL

[Hospal/Cobe Laboratories, Inc., USA./France
(Represents Hemodialysis and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy System.)

The Kidneys cleanse blood of waste products & removes excess fluids from the body. If the kidneys fail, all of these functions mist be replaced. This is done with a procedure called dialysis.

Hemodialysis is the most common form of dialysis treatment. In Hemodialysis the blood is transported through tubing to cleanse and removes excess fluids in an artificial kidney, a Dialyzer. A dialysis machine monitors and controls the entire process.

It is Medcomp's goal to provide only the highest quality product and service to assure total customer satisfaction and to meet customer requirements.

Company Profile

____Medcomp is a company at the forefront of all major developments in vascular access technology and catheterization for blood purification. Founded in 1978 for the purpose of marketing acute access catheters, Medcomp has become predominant in the industry and developed all of its own equipment for catheter fabrication. We manufacture catheters for acute and long-term access in hemodialysis, hemofiltration, plasmapheresis, high flux and various modalities in the treatment of acute renal failure. We also offer peritoneal dialysis catheters and central vein infusion catheters. With our in-house control over all key elements of production, we are able to streamline product changes and development. We are also fully equipped with a custom packaging department, which enables us to offer kits and trays to the exact specifications of the physician.

____Medcomp's structure is broad enough to be involved in all areas of vascular access device fabrication, but our in-house organization is still mobile enough to allow the ability to construct devices to meet specific needs or requests. In fact, some of our currently-marketed products are the direct results of open communication between Medcomp and individual professionals in the medical field. Examples include the Raulerson/Duo-Flow IJ & Raulerson One-Step (after Dr. J. Daniel Raulerson, U.S.A.), the Modified Tesio & Bio-Flex Tesio (after Dr. Franco Tesio, Italy), the Ash Split Cath (after Dr. Stephen Ash, U.S.A.), and the Schon & Schon XL (after Dr. Donald Schon, U.S.A.).

____Our research continues in an effort to improve our basic technology and to develop and discover new biomaterials to enhance the performance of indwelling venous catheters. With the continued assistance of members in the medical community, we look forward to consistent improvements to our products and services. Medical professionals are encouraged to submit suggestions, opinions, or comments regarding product function, design, or development. They may do this through the home office, the direct sales force in the U.S., or their assigned distributor network worldwide. To further communication, direct contact with the medical community is solicited through company participation in various trade shows, some of which are the European Dialysis and Transplant Association (EDTA) the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), and the Society of CV & Interventional Radiology (SCVIR).

DWA Technology for Hemodialysis

The small, compact HEMO RO 3000 is ideal for the single user at home, and for acurate emergency use.

DWA has designed the HEMO RO 3000 to take account of the specialized needs of domestic users. Its lightweight construction and smooth-running castors mean that it can easily be moved from room to room or to a different site. The system provides 50 I/h permeate at 12 degree centigrade feedwater, with 2 bar outlet pressure (minimum inlet pressure 1.5 bar). For total patient safety, microprocessor controls constantly monitor the system functions and there is an easy-to-read display indicating operational status. The HEMO RO 3000 is also very quiet - an important consideration in a residential environment.

Disinfection of the system is simple, due to the automatic sanitisation programme. A compact pre-filtration unit is available, and there is an optional pre-treatment softener for areas where the feedwater hardness levels exceed 400 ppm.
